The reason companies take part in this award are as many as the number of companies that enter. It’s their way of striving for excellence in what they do. Even if they are not successful, many businesses find it a wonderful way in which to learn from those that are succeeding.

As well as being innovative in industry and maintaining a strong presence in England’s north east, Walker Filtration has also helped local children who might want to become engineers. The company worked alongside the Engineering Development Trust in providing students at the Newcastle Royal Grammar School to get some hands on experience in engineering fields. They provided support for the Engineering in Education Scheme as part of their local activity within the community.

2Walker Filtration is a global player in business, exporting their products to 65 different countries. However, the company prides itself on the continued support it provides within the local community as well. Not forgetting its roots Lianne Walker, the Group Managing Director, stated that “Walker Filtration is proud of its North East heritage, and we are passionate about investing in manufacturing and engineering in the region.”

It’s worth mentioning that the company was short listted for two local awards as well at the Insider Media Made in the North East Awards 2016.

Other companies might take this philosophy of Walker Filtration’s on board, and that is to have a presence in its local business as well as wanting to play in a global market. If they follow the example set so far by Walker Filtration, it shows that a company can benefit from international growth and local exposure and involvement.
